Fact, Fable, and Darwin

Summary by Tom Magnuson

Rodney Stark is university professor of the social sciences at Baylor University. He claims that there is no plausible scientific theory for the origin of species.

Stark states that "the battle over evolution is not an example of how heroic scientists have withstood the relentless persecution of religious fanatics. Rather, from the very start it primarily has been an attack on religion by militant atheists who wrap themselves in the mantle of science."

Read this article, which also includes excerpts of interviews with Freeman Dyson, professor emeritus at Princeton’s Institute for Advanced Study, and a preeminent mathematical physicist, and one of the most wide-ranging thinkers and writers in modern science.
