On the final day of the 2003-2004 Minnesota biennial legislative session, the Minnesota legislature voted to adopt the new state science standards - without any of the changes or amendments proposed by those who wanted to teach evidence against Darwinism. The final standards adopted were those recommended by the original writing committee of teachers, scientists, and citizens. Senate File 1714 and House File 2003 died when the legislature adjourned; these identical bills contained a version of the Santorum language, which suggests a teaching of the known controversy of the Darwinian paradigm.
