Beginning at E, the event to be explained, we move to the first decision node, HP, which asks if E is highly probable. If yes, we explain E by necessity. If no, we move to the next node, IP, which asks if E is an intermediate probability event. If yes, we explain E by chance. If no, we move to the last decision mode, SP/sp, which asks if E is a specified (sp) event of small proabability (SP). If yes, we explain E by design. If specification is lacking, we refer the event to chance. |
